- Mailserver v1.0b (c)1995 Dominic Ramsey - Freely Distribuatble
- --------------------------------------------------------------
-
- Legal Stuff
- -----------
-
- Mailserver is copyright (c)1995 Dominic Ramsey. It is freely distributable,
- as long as all of the files in the original archive remain intact.
-
- If you want to use Mailserver as a part of a larger archive, you are
- free to do so, but you should e-mail me and let me know. You are, of
- course welcome to keep the archive in your own 'public' directories!
-
- I am NOT responsible for ANY damage caused by the use or misuse of
- Mailserver, however big or small. Use it at yor OWN risk!
-
- -----------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- Mailserver is an ARexx script that will allow users to retrieve files
- from your hard disk, by simply sending email to it.
-
- Files can only be retrieved from one 'public' directory on your hard
- disk, so there is no chance of anyone messing with any important
- files.
-
- Binary files will be automatically uuencoded if you have Asher Feldman's
- UUxT. If not, then I recommend you get it from Aminet, or you will have to
- manually uuencode binary files before placing them in the public directory.
- The uuencoding is performed by the Autoencode script in the mailserver:sys
- directory.
-
- You can also add your own 'external' commands, making Mailserver almost
- totally configurable. These commands could be single AmigaDos commands with
- their arguments taken from the email command, or custom written scripts
- performing complex tasks.
-
- Two example commands are included in the archive to give you an idea of
- what can be done. They are stored in the mailserver:sys/usr directory.
-
- (See the file mailserver:sys/externals for more information.)
-
- Mailserver does not handle wildcards, so full filenames must be used.
-
- You will be sent a message whenever someone attempts to use the
- Mailserver. You can change the address these messages are sent to by
- changing the 'owner' entry in the prefs file. By default, they are sent to
- the mailbox named in the USERNAME environment variable.
-
- All incoming mail is logged. This is usually the file
-
- uuspool:mailserver.log
-
- but this can be changed by editing the 'logname' entry in the prefs file.
-
- If Mailserver seems to 'lock up', it may be because an previous copy
- of the program has failed for some reason, and not deleted the file
- T:mailserver.lock. If you delete this file, mailserver should continue
- normally.
-
- If you are short of memory, you should set the options inform, keeplog
- and receipt in the prefs file to 'no'. You may also find it is a good
- idea to assign t: to a temporary directory on your hard disk.
